We are hiring a new market manager.

The Market Manager will report to the Wenatchee Valley Farmers Market (WVFM) Board of Directors.

Job Overview

The Market Manager is responsible for the day to day operation of the Wenatchee Valley Farmers Market.

Qualifications and Skill Set

  •  Experience with project management, program coordination, event planning, community building, and marketing activities.
  •  Strong management skills, education and/or experience in a fast-paced retail environment. Non-profit experience and familiarity with agriculture, horticulture, and locally-grown food a plus. Accounting skills a plus.
  • Computer and technology literate with web page management and social media experience.
  •  Physically able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing, including ability to collect information, writereports, and manage data.
  • Interpersonal skills for dealing effectively with the public, volunteers, vendors, musicians, and other thatcoincide with the Market.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Enthusiasm, initiative, and judgement necessary to develop a multi-faceted role supporting our growing market.
Responsibilities and Duties

  • Be the public face of the market. Set a welcoming tone. Anticipate and prevent problems. Assist vendors and shoppers who need help. Make statements to media when required.
●  Process vendor applications, ensure all necessary permits have been obtained, and collect fees.

●  Ensure smooth operation of the Saturday Market from set-up to break-down, including running theInformation booth, placing and retrieving market signs in community, overseeing volunteers, KERNEL Club, Kid’s Market, and entertainment, and collecting vendor fees at the end of the day.

●  Support Wednesday Market and Winter Market as needed.

●  Create weekly market map and process weekly fees to ready for Treasurer.

●  Enforce Market policies and rules. Resolve disputes that arise.

●  Attend training for and manage WIC and EBT/SNAP/Fresh Bucks.

●  Communicate regularly with vendors, Pybus Market Management, and WVFM Board of Directors.

●  Attend and help organize Spring and Fall Vendor Meetings. Attend monthly board meetings whennecessary.

●  Be knowledgeable about all products that vendors sell.

●  Keep website updated.

●  Manage Market email, computer, and phone.

●  Oversee security and storage of Market property.

Job Details

  •  The WVFM Manager is a part-time seasonal position.
  • The position starts in early March 2019 working approximately 8 -15 hours a week. The hours will increase closer to the start of the Market on May 11, 2019. During Summer Market season (May 11-Oct 26), the hours will be approximately 30-35 hours a week. The hours will decrease again in November and December to 8-12 hours a week. Total hours for the year approximately 1000.
  • Must be able to attend Spring Vendor Meeting on March 30, 2019. Must be able to work Saturdays May 11 – Oct 26 from 6 am – 3 pm. Must be able to work Friday afternoon/evening to put together Saturday’s Market Map. All other hours are flexible.
  • Must be able to attend monthly Board Meetings on the second Monday of each month at 6 pm.
  •  Job renewal will be based on a post-season performance review.
  • Compensation will be based on prior experience and between $14-$18 per hour.
